Marcelo has dismissed the idea of coming out of retirement to play for Real Madrid in Sunday’s Clasico against Barcelona.

Real Madrid will visit their Catalan rivals at Camp Nou on 25 October 2026, with the fixture taking place in the 10th round of La Liga.

Speaking to DAZN before the meeting between the two biggest rivals in Spanish football, the former Real Madrid left-back was asked whether he would like to take part in the match.

Marcelo responded with a laugh: “Impossible… imagine me running after Lamine Yamal now! I can’t.”

The Brazilian is regarded as one of the outstanding players to have represented Real Madrid during his generation. He won numerous honours with the club and made a significant contribution from the left-back position.

His light-hearted answer underlined his preference for watching the Clasico from outside the pitch rather than attempting to contain Yamal for 90 minutes.

The teenager’s pace and attacking ability will present a demanding test for Real Madrid’s defenders as they try to stop Barcelona’s young forward.
