Maryann Ezenagu’s Zenit edge Francisca Ordega’s CSKA to Russian Super Cup title

Nigeria’s Maryann Ezenagu won her first title with Russian side, Zenit as her new team secured a 5-4 win on penalties over Francisca Ordega’s CSKA Moscow in the Russian Super Cup on Saturday.
The keenly contest clash ended goalless in the first half before two goals from Ekaterina of both sides took the game into penalties.
Ekaterina Pantukhina gave Zenit the lead in the 71st minute and thought the goal had sealed the title for her side but CSKA won’t capitulate.
Ekaterina Bratko redeemed the hosts as she equalized for the Moscow side in the 79th minute to take the game into penalties.
Zenit won the shoot-out 5-4 to clinch the Russia Women’s Super Cup.
The win marked the first title for Ezenagu who joined Zenit and has played six games thus far for her new team.
Ezenagu previously played for Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership sides, Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens before her switch to Zenit making her the third Nigerian player in the Russian women’s topflight.
Others include Ordega (CSKA Moscow) and Macleans Chinonyerem (Lokomotiv Moscow).
