Maryan Ohadiwe and Ogunchukwu Atube have back Abia Angels to return to winning ways in Wednesday’s Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership match against Ibom Angels in Umuahia.
The Umuahia based outfit are smarting from a three-match losing streak, including back-to-back 2-1 defeats to Nasarawa Amazons and are facing the possibility of missing out on a possible top three finish this season.
With third straight defeat against Robo Queens on February 15, the Abia Angels star is upbeat her side can silence their visitors from Uyo.
“We are prepared for the game against Ibom Angels and from now on we are winning our games,” Ohadiwe told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“Our major target this season is to qualify for the Super Six. We still have the advantage to achieve that.”
In the same vein, assistant coach of the team, Ogochukwu Atube also echoed Ohadiwe’s optimism.
“We expect nothing less than three points against Ibom Angels as we will do our homework and play our heart out,” the tactician said.
“We will pick the point. I believe we can replicate our first stanza performance again in the second stanza. I don’t lose hope in life and my career. I will never give up.”
Ann Chiejine’s side produced one of the major upsets of the season with a 1-0 win over Edo Queens in Benin City on January 11.
A win against Ibom at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Wednesday will brighten their Super Six chance as they occupy the fifth position with 10 points, three points short of the top three spot.
