Maureen Umeh: Nigeria defender joins Moses Simon’s Nantes

Former Nigeria youth international, Maureen Umeugochukwu has joined second-tier French side, FC Nantes.
The 21-year-old joined the team from US. Saint-Malo, having previously played for the Turkish side, Adana Idmanyurduspor.
Following her move, the Nigerian defender becomes the second Nigerian on the books of the French club which also have Super Eagles star Moses Simon.
“I am so excited to join Nantes. A club that has a lot of rich history,” She commented after completing her switch to the French side.
“I am here to put in my best, in every minute I wear the yellow and green jersey.
“I want to appreciate everyone that helped me grow as a player in US. St. Malo. My teammates, technical crew, and all the fans that stood by us, even during difficult moments.”
She recently played her first tune-up game for the team this week during a 1-1 draw with RC Lens and is expected to help the team’s quest to gain promotion to top tier, French D1 Arkema.
