Mbappe puts Real Madrid ahead after Barcelona defensive error
Real Madrid took a 1-0 lead over Barcelona before half-time in El Clasico after Kylian Mbappe capitalised on a defensive mistake by Barcelona full-back Gerard Martin.
The decisive moment came in the 41st minute when Diomande delivered a cross from the left. Martin attempted to clear the ball but made poor contact, sending it into Mbappe.
The Real Madrid forward then intervened with his leg, changing the ball’s direction and diverting it past Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia and into the net.
Real Madrid had produced the stronger performance during the opening half, making effective use of its attacking movement and repeatedly creating problems for Barcelona down the left flank.
That pressure was eventually rewarded with Mbappe’s goal, giving Real Madrid the advantage going into the interval.
