Forward Mercy Itimi has joined Moroccan women’s football top-flight side Sporting Club Casablanca.

The North Africa Club confirmed her arrival from Nigeria Women Football League Premiership side Bayelsa Queens on their social media pages on Tuesday.

“We’re excited to welcome Mercy Evawere ITIMI as the newest member of our team! ✍🏼✅
Her skills and dedication will be a great boost for us. Let’s embark on this journey together and make our mark in the soccer world. Welcome, @mercyitimi ! 💙⚽️,” the Club posted.

Itimi played for Bayelsa Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership with titles to her name.

She was part of the team that won the 2021/2022 NWFL Premiership title and also conquered West Africa.

The Yenegoa-based side defeated Ampem Darkoa of Ghana to win the 2022 West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Women’s Champions League title, which qualified the team for the CAF Women’s Champions League.

Itimi and her Bayelsa Queens teammates under late coach Domo Okara recorded Nigeria’s best performance at the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League with a bronze medal.

She is joining a Moroccan side that finished second in the league last year, making it to the CAF Women’s Champions League in the process alongside fellow Moroccan side, AS FAR.

They got to the final of the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League but lost to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in Cote d’Ivoire.
