FC Atyrau defender Michael Odibe remains optimistic about securing a move to the prestigious German Bundesliga as the summer transfer window deadline approaches. With only 18 months remaining on his current contract with the Kazakhstani club, Odibe confirmed his desire to make the switch to Germany in an exclusive statement to Completesportsnigeria.com.
Odibe’s aspirations of joining the German top flight were tantalizingly close in January when a potential deal with Freiburg was on the horizon. Unfortunately, the move faltered as Atyrau demanded a substantial fee, thwarting his immediate transfer. Undeterred, the 26-year-old defender now sets his sights on Hamburger SV and Russian side Mordovia Saransk, both of whom are engaged in ongoing discussions with his agent.
“In football, uncertainties abound, but my focus currently rests with Atyrau and our pursuit of climbing to the top of the league table. As it stands, we are positioned fourth in the standings, amassing 30 points from 17 games,” Odibe expressed.
The determined defender’s commitment to his current club’s success is unwavering. He envisions the possibility of propelling Atyrau to the top of the league table, firmly believing in the team’s potential. While his dreams of a Bundesliga move persist, Odibe remains dedicated to his present responsibilities and will continue to give his all on the field.
