Mikel Agu’s Inaugural Goal Inspires Bursaspor’s Comeback Victory in Nigerian Duel

In a riveting clash in the Turkish top flight, Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Agu demonstrated his prowess by notching his first goal for 10-man Bursaspor, leading them to a remarkable 3-1 triumph over visiting Osmanlispor on Monday. The match showcased the stellar performances of several Nigerian talents, with Agu’s teammate William Troost-Ekong joining the action, while Osmanlispor featured Aminu Umar and Raheem Lawal.

Agu, in an impactful display, started the match and showcased his endurance by playing the full 90 minutes. His defining moment came in the 38th minute when he netted a crucial goal, propelling Bursaspor to a 2-1 lead. The other goals for Bursaspor were contributed by Bogdan Stancu in the 30th minute and Aziz Behich in the 75th minute.

Despite Souleymane Doukara giving Osmanlispor an early lead in the 23rd minute, Bursaspor demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the match. They missed an opportunity to take the lead in the seventh minute when Pablo Martins Batalla failed to convert from the penalty spot.

The game took a dramatic turn when Bursaspor’s Jires Kembo-Ekoko received a red card, reducing the team to 10 men. However, this setback did not hinder their spirit, and Behich’s goal secured the victory, propelling Bursaspor to the eighth spot in the 18-team league table with 12 points. The Nigerian duel on the Turkish pitch showcased the skill and determination of these players, leaving fans anticipating more stellar performances in the league.
