Mohammed Sanusi: Nigeria can surpass Morocco’s 2022 FIFA World Cup feat

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has assured Nigerian football faithful that the Super Eagles have what it takes to replicate Morocco’s superlative runs at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
The Atlas Lions topped their pool which had the likes of Belgium, Croatia and Canada and are the only African team remaining in the global prestigious competition and will play holders France in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
Secretary General of the federation, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi made the disclosure during the inauguration of the Players Unions’ reconciliation committee in Abuja.
The Atlas Lions saw of football powerhouses in Belgium, Spain and Portugal and Canada en route their ways to become the first African country to reach the semifinal of FIFA World Cup.
Super Eagles on the other hand, failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup and are yet to go beyond the round of 16 in their World Cup outings.
Following the North Africans expliots, Dr. Sanusi now believes that Nigeria the ability and quality to match the North Africans’ achievements or even do better.
“Morocco have done exceedingly well for Africa at the ongoing FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar,” the NFF scribe told media.
“Nigeria is capable of doing likewise and even better if we have a peaceful atmosphere in which all stakeholders work towards a common, noble goal.”
The Super Eagles have qualified for the World Cup initially six times but the best they have done is get into the Round of 16 on three occasions – 1994, 1998 and 2014.
Nigeria will return to action in March during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers hoping to win the 2023 competition to be held in Ivory Coast.
