MOL Cup: Rafiu Durosinmi steers Viktoria Plzeň into quarter-finals

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Viktoria Plzeň booked their place in the MOL Cup quarter-finals following a commanding 2-0 win over Nové Sady in Olomouc, with Nigerian forward Rafiu Durosinmi playing a pivotal role.

The West Bohemian side displayed composure and efficiency, with Durosinmi opening the scoring in the 74th minute.

Rising highest to meet a well-placed cross, the 21-year-old delivered a precise header past the goalkeeper, securing a crucial advantage for his team.

Midfielder Lukáš Červ later added a second to seal the victory and Plzeň’s progress in the domestic cup.

Durosinmi had earlier been involved in a tough aerial duel, leaving him briefly shaken.

Head coach Martin Hyský substituted the striker as a precaution, but reports indicate the injury is minor, and Durosinmi is expected to be fit for Plzeň’s upcoming fixtures.

The Nigerian forward continues to impress with his consistent performances and growing influence in attack, further strengthening his prospects for a potential call-up to the Super Eagles.

With his contract entering its final phase, Durosinmi’s form has also drawn attention from clubs abroad, highlighting his key role in Viktoria Plzeň’s pursuit of silverware this season.
