Moroccan Media Leader Calls for Strong African Journalists’ Network to Project Continent Positively

Mohammed Daki, Vice President of the National Association of Media and Publishers (ANME) of Morocco, has called for the establishment of a strong and united network of African journalists to better project the continent’s image to the global audience.

Daki made the call on Thursday in Casablanca during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He explained that the recent visit of journalists from across Africa to Morocco was aimed at strengthening existing partnerships between Moroccan journalists and their counterparts on the continent.

According to him, the initiative was designed to deepen collaboration, promote shared professional values, and reinforce the already cordial working relationship between African media practitioners and Moroccan journalists.

Daki noted that the visit also provided an opportunity to showcase Morocco’s infrastructural development and investment potential to the outside world through African storytelling.

“There is a need for African journalists to have a strong network to be able to tell the stories of Africa to the world,” he said.

He added that while African media organisations previously focused more on developments outside the continent, there is now a growing need to look inward and stay informed about events and opportunities within Africa.

“We believe in Africa. I think it is very important to give the best to Africa as a continent with abundant talents and opportunities,” Daki stated.

He further disclosed that the association would continue to roll out similar initiatives to sustain and strengthen partnerships among African journalists.

ANME is a Moroccan organisation representing print, digital, and audiovisual media, established to address economic challenges in the media sector, promote professionalism, and advocate media reforms.

The association also focuses on good governance, combating disinformation, and strengthening the financial independence and sustainability of media organisations in Morocco. ANME is currently the largest organisation of media publishers in the country.
