Morocco Reacts to CAF Appeals Decision on AFCON 2025 Title

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has formally acknowledged the ruling of the Confederation of African Football Appeals Committee regarding the awarding of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 title.

In a measured response issued on Tuesday, the Moroccan federation clarified that its earlier position was not aimed at disputing the sporting merit of any team involved in the tournament, but rather to seek proper enforcement of competition regulations.

“The FRMF wishes to reiterate that its actions were never intended to contest the sporting performance of the teams involved in this competition, but solely to request the application of the competition rules,” the statement read.

The federation further emphasized its continued commitment to upholding regulatory standards, stressing the need for clarity in competition frameworks and the overall stability of African football tournaments.

It also used the opportunity to commend all participating nations, describing the tournament as a significant milestone for the development and celebration of African football.

The FRMF indicated that a more detailed official statement will be released after consultations with its governing bodies, expected to take place on Wednesday.

The decision by CAF’s Appeals Committee brings a key chapter of the AFCON 2025 process to a close, amid heightened attention to regulatory compliance and governance within the continental game.
