Sufian Rahimi, the Morocco international and Al Ain forward, is grieving the death of his father, Mohammed Rahimi, who died on Thursday after a period of illness.

Al Ain, who have both Soufiane Rahimi and his brother Hussein Rahimi in their squad, issued a message of condolence to the two players.

“Al Ain Club extends its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to Soufiane Rahimi and his brother Hussein Rahimi on the death of their father. We ask Almighty God to envelop the deceased in His vast mercy and forgiveness, grant him a place in His spacious paradise, and give his family and relatives patience and solace. Indeed, we belong to God, and to Him we shall return,” the club said in a post on X.

The message was directed to the Rahimi family following the death of Mohammed, whose illness had previously been made public by his son.

Rahimi had earlier spoken about the impact of his father’s condition and appealed to supporters to pray for his recovery.

“Nothing has broken me except my father’s illness. My heart hurts when he is in pain, and it is enough suffering for me, O God, I have no strength to see him suffering. Lord, you know and see how much his illness breaks me, so have mercy on his weakness and be gentle with him. Lord, heal my father,” Rahimi wrote at the time.

Raja Club Athletic, where Rahimi previously played, also paid tribute to Mohammed Rahimi and offered its condolences to the family.

“With great sadness and sorrow, Raja Club Athletic received the news of the death of Haj Mohammed Rahimi, one of the club’s loyal figures, whose name remained associated with Raja for many years and embodied the highest meanings of loyalty and belonging to the Green Castle,” Raja said.

“On this painful occasion, Raja Club Athletic, on behalf of all its members, extends its warmest condolences and sincerest sympathy to the family and relatives of the deceased, and to all members of the Raja family. We ask Almighty God to envelop him in His vast mercy and forgiveness and grant him a place in His spacious paradise,” the club added.

Rahimi has enjoyed a prominent role for Al Ain and Morocco. He helped the Emirati club win the domestic double last season, claiming both the Adnoc Pro League title and the President’s Cup.

The forward’s performances for Al Ain have also made him an important member of the Morocco national team, while his brother Hussein remains alongside him at club level.

The death of their father has prompted messages of support from both Al Ain and Raja, reflecting Mohammed Rahimi’s connection with the player’s current club and his former side.
