Moses Simon Eyes EPL Move as He Reflects on Bafana Defeat

Gent winger Moses Simon has expressed his desire to play in the English Premier League (EPL) if the right opportunity arises, amid reports of interest from EPL clubs. The 21-year-old Super Eagles star has been the subject of attention from clubs like West Brom, Swansea, and Stoke City this summer, although no formal offers have been made as of yet.

Simon, who has consistently showcased his talents on the field, revealed his admiration for the EPL, saying, “I love England and will love to play in the EPL someday, but I can only talk about a move when talks are ongoing.”

The Nigerian international also opened up about the recent 2-0 loss to South Africa in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Uyo. While Simon was one of the standout performers for Gernot Rohr’s side, he, like many, was left perplexed by the abrupt turnaround in the match. Nigeria had dominated the game during the early stages before falling apart.

“It is hard because we have to find a way to bounce back from this defeat and ensure it does not happen again,” Simon lamented, acknowledging the disappointment of losing at home. “It is hard to put a finger on why, and what you can do to change it. We played great in the first half but could not step up in the second half. I don’t think I can explain that.”

Simon’s aspirations to play in the EPL mirror the ambitions of many emerging talents, and his dedication to improving and learning from setbacks underlines his commitment to the sport. As he continues to impress on the field, the prospect of seeing him in English football becomes an intriguing possibility.
