Newly appointed Plymouth Argyle boss Wayne Rooney has revealed the reasons behind the club’s decision to sign Nigerian forward Muhammad Tijani.
The EFL Championship side recently announced the signing of the 23-year-old former 36 Lion FC striker on a season-long loan from Slavia Prague with a buy option.
Rooney believes that Tijani’s combination of physicality and skill will add a much-needed edge to Plymouth Argyle’s offensive capabilities as they compete in the Championship.
The former Manchester United and England international is said to influenced the move after speaking with the player on the phone.
“Muhammed joining further strengthens our forward line and he will bring different attributes to the squad,” he said via the club website.
“He is big, athletic and can run in behind, but is equally as good at holding the ball up and bringing other players into play.
“He has played and scored in the Europa League so comes with a good pedigree but is also young and keen to improve. We are looking forward to working with him.”
