Mutiu Adepoju urges Super Eagles to qualify for 2026 FIFA World Cup

By Saheed Afolabi

Former Nigeria international, Mutiu Adepoju, has called on the national team to ensure their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles’ chances of making it to the tournament have been cast into doubt following a series of unimpressive performances, leaving them without a win in their last four matches.

Adepoju emphasized the need for the players to remain calm and committed to winning their remaining fixtures to secure their place at the World Cup.

“First, the players need to stay calm, unite, and commit to winning all the upcoming matches,” Adepoju was quoted by NAN. “The team needs to focus and find a way to move forward and qualify for the next tournament.”

He also highlighted the importance of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in fostering unity within the team to maximize their potential.

“The NFF needs to act swiftly to unite the players and bring out their best for the next World Cup.”

Nigeria last participated in the World Cup at the 2018 edition in Russia. Adepoju’s call to action underscores the importance of a concerted effort from both the players and the football federation to ensure the Super Eagles’ presence on football’s biggest stage in 2026.
