Napoli’s head coach, Rudi Garcia has acknowledged the possibility of Victor Osimhen leaving the club before the summer transfer window closes.
The 24-year-old striker has built a legacy in Naples over the last three years as he helped the club win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years.
Osimhen scored 26 goals in the league to cart home the Capocannoniere (Golden Boot Award) and
the former Lille man also registered five goals in the UEFA Champions League to help the club reach their first-ever quarterfinal finish.
The Nigerian has attracted attention from several top European clubs, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, PSG, and Manchester United.
Although, Napoli have maintained their stance that their top-scorer is not for sale but are believed to be looking for a fee in excess of €200m to part ways with him.
The player himself is also keen to stay in Naples for at least another year, giving his agents the green light to negotiate a contract extension with the club.
Nevertheless, PSG remains a formidable contender for his signature, given their financial strength and with uncertainties surrounding star forward Kylian Mbappe’s future.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian continues to showcase his goal-scoring prowess, netting a sensational goal for Napoli during preseason training.
In a recent interview, Coach Garcia addressed the ongoing speculation linking Osimhen to PSG while expressing his desire for the striker to stay at Napoli.
“I hope he (Osimhen) stays in Naples,” Garcia told Tutto Napoli.
“He’s under contract and everyone is calm, but never say never in football. I’m confident and he wants to stay.”
