Serie A champions, Napoli could look to French side Lille for Victor Osimhen’s replacement.
Osimhen is currently one of the lethal strikers in Europe after an outstanding season that won Napoli its first Scudetto since 1990.
The Super Eagle is the leading scorer in Italy with 23 goals, smashing records and the Nigerian has been on the list of top clubs and the Naples club could be forced to sell him should a substantial bid be made for his services.
The forward has been linked with the world’s biggest clubs, including Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea.
The 24-year-old was bought from Lille for a club record deal of about €71.2m in September 2020 and is now valued above €100 million but he is under contract until June 2025.
Meanwhile, the Partenopei have identified Canadian striker Jonathan David who plays for Osimhen’s former club, Lille.
According to Il Mattino, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is monitoring the 23-year-old as he fancies him to be the ideal replacement for the Nigerian should he depart the club.
David has 21 goals from 33 Ligue 1 appearances this season and the report went on to state that negotiations are still at the elementary stage.
The former Gent of Belgium player is said to have similar prowess in front of goal and could fit in Osimhen’s shoe.
