Napoli star Victor Osimhen reveals toughest defender ever faced

Victor Osimhen has named Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero as the toughest player he has ever come up against.

The 25-year-old Argentine spent a few years in Italy before moving to North London, he came up against Osimhen on three occasions and he only managed to score in one.

There aren’t many defenders who can deal with the Nigerian without too much trouble as he was voted the best striker in the Italian league and also scored five goals to push Napoli to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals for the first time ever.

The 24-year-old is arguably the biggest reason why Napoli won the Serie A title last season – their first in over 30 years with his 26 league goals as top scorer.

The Super Eagle star has been linked with a move away from Napoli ever since after catching the interest of several clubs in England, including Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking on tvplay_it’s Twitch channel, Osimhen insisted that Romero is his toughest opponent despite facing numerous defenders throughout his career so far.

“(Cristian) Romero is the toughest I’ve faced. The first time I played against him, I got the ball deep several times and he was always behind me.”
