Nasarawa Amazons dominate NWFL Premiership Matchday One Team of the Week

Three players from Nasarawa Amazons made the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Matchday One Team of the Week.

Esther Adesoji in defence, Ojiyovwi Kesiena who scored a goal during her side’s 3-1 away win over Naija Ratels FC, and Ayatsea Hembafan who scored two goals are the players from the Solid Miners who made the team of the week.

Heartland Queens, Rivers Angels, Remo Stars Ladies, Abia Angels, Confluence Queens, and Edo Queens have a player each on the team of the week.

After forcing holders, Delta Queens to a 0-0 draw in the season opener, two players from Ekiti Queens made the team as well.

Goalkeeper, Andy Lucky who kept a clean sheet and made superb saves to lift her side to a draw, and Miracle Ohaeri who played a crucial role in defence made the cut for the Ado Ekiti-based side.

They include Ekezie Onyedikachi, Motunrayo Ezekiel, Nneka Eze, Amarachi Ndudim, Merit Offor, and Godwin Eunice.

The team of the week was compiled by respected jury including journalists and major stakeholders of women’s football in the country.

Individual player performance during the Matchday was considered in arriving at the team of the week.
