NAWFA League’s Inaugural Kickoff Rescheduled to April 21

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The Northern Amateur Women Football Association (NAWFA) has revealed a revised date for the launch of its inaugural league.

Originally set to start on April 11, the historic first season will now begin on April 21, 2025.

In addressing this change, NAWFA’s interim chairman, Moses Bako, noted that the delay was necessary due to scheduling conflicts with activities organized by the Plateau State government, as well as ongoing financial challenges.

“These unexpected circumstances could have jeopardized the quality and organization of the event. By postponing, we can realign our preparations and ensure we uphold the standards we have established for this inaugural edition,” he remarked.

Bako reiterated NAWFA’s dedication to hosting a well-structured and impactful competition that establishes a strong foundation for amateur women’s football in the area.

“We believe that anything worth doing is worth doing well. Our priority is on achieving excellence rather than rushing, to create a memorable event,” he stated.

He also expressed gratitude for the patience and ongoing support of all stakeholders as preparations are intensified to ensure the league’s success.
