Neil Lennon praises Cyriel Dessers move to Rangers

Former Manchester City midfielder Neil Lennon has heaped praises on Rangers’ decision to buy Cyriel Dessers.
The 28-year-old Nigerian striker recently sealed a transfer deal worth €5million to former Scottish Premiership champions Rangers and the Super Eagles star switched from Cremonese following a disappointing season that got them relegated as they finished 19th.
Meanwhile, former Manchester City player Lennon who also coached Celtic has praised Rangers for their decision to get the Nigerian striker, backing Dessers to deliver goals for the Scottish club.
“I watched him [Dessers] when he was at Heracles and he was the leading goalscorer in the Dutch league that season,” Lennon said per Glasgow Live.
“He’s a big, powerful player with a little bit of technique sometimes, with the soft feet.
“But he’s a goalscorer, and I think at £4.5million, he could be a great bit of business for Rangers. They needed a striker, and they’ve got one in the building now.
“His goal record is good, and he’s a physical type. Quick, strong and has a goal in him. For £4.5million, that’s decent business.”
Dessers was part of the Feyenoord team that got to the final of the maiden UEFA Europa Conference League final and the proven goal poacher played at eight clubs so far, and has garnered a lot of experience over the course of his nine-year-career.
Dessers has resumed pre-season with Rangers in Germany. They will play Newcastle United, Hamburger SV, Olympiakos, and Hoffenheim.
Rangers lost the title to close rivals Celtic last season and the newly added Nigerian star would look to play a vital role as the club looks to usurp the Hoops, especially since losing some of their attacking firepower this summer.
