NFF ban club managers and chairmen from chairing Nigerian leagues – Gusau

Chairmen and managers of Nigerian clubs will no longer be in charge of administration of leagues at various levels, according to the President of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau.
Gusau noted that the measure was part of new federation’s efforts to rebuild the various national leagues and attract the investors and sponsorship, stressing that various leagues will be headed by independent persons.
The former Chairman of Chairmen of the Federation hinted that rebuilding and rejuvenating our domestic leagues are top on our agenda as this will attract more sponsors and followers.

“We want to build confidence in our league and let it be govern by independent minds who are football lovers,” Gusau told media.
“It is not appropriate to make Club Chairmen head of the Nigerian Professional Football League NPFL, Nigerian National League, NNL, Nigerian League One, NLO and the Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL.
“Nigerians are beginning to accept and embrace all the steps we are embarking upon, and they are beginning to develop interest in following the league. They have also been commending us for the steps so far taken.
“There are some silent Nigerian billionaires who are football ‘crazy’ and are ready to fork out any amount if we convince them that their money will be well spent.
“If such people can fly to Europe at weekends to watch matches, we believe they can contribute more to our leagues if given the opportunities.”
