NFF pays Super Falcons 0,000 share of WAFCON Prize Money

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

In line with its policy of transparency, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has fulfilled its agreement with the Nigeria’s senior women’s national team by disbursing 30 percent of the $1 million prize money earned from winning the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Prompt News gathered that the federation has already paid the team $300,000 (₦450 million), directly to the players, in line with the pre-tournament agreement reached in Morocco.

Beyond the prize share, each squad member, coach, and backroom staff also received full camp allowances and match-winning bonuses, amounting to several millions of naira.

The Falcons were further celebrated by NFF sponsors, who hosted the team on their triumphant return in July.

On their return from Morocco, Nigeria’s President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu also rewarded the Falcons’ historic triumph with $100,000 each, national honours, and a three-bedroom flat for every player and official.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) had announced a 100 percent increase in prize money for the winners of the 2024 WAFCON. By defeating host nation Morocco 3-2 in a thrilling final on July 26, Nigeria became the first beneficiaries of the new financial package.

The payment further cements the Gusau-led NFF’s commitment to financial transparency and honoring its agreements with national teams.
