Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, has thrown his full support behind Super Eagles head coach Eric Sekou Chelle, insisting the team is firmly on the path to success following their bronze medal finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Gusau’s backing comes amid speculation that the Tunisian Football Federation may be interested in luring the Malian tactician away from the Super Eagles. However, the NFF president made it clear that the federation has no intention of parting ways with Chelle.
“The team played with zest, patriotic fervour, resilience, and character,” Gusau said, praising the coach’s impact and leadership throughout the tournament.
He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government for their continued support, noting that Nigerian football has “turned the corner” after recent World Cup qualification disappointments.
“The NFF will continue to encourage, support, and motivate the team,” Gusau added, reaffirming the federation’s commitment to Chelle and the Super Eagles as they build towards future competitions.
