NFF searches for Sand Eagles coach ahead of BSAFCON Qualifiers against Mauritania

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

With a few days to the first leg of the 2024 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (BSAFCON) Qualifiers against Mauritania, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has opened an application for the coach of the beach soccer national team.

With the team being inactive since 2019, there is a need to appoint a coach to form team cohesion of players from different clubs.

The Nigeria Football Federation has requested applications from suitably qualified candidates for the vacant position of the Coach of Beach Soccer National Team, otherwise known as Supersand Eagles as announced in a press release by the NFF Communications Department on Wednesday.

“The public notice, which is on the Federation’s website (https://thenff.com/?post_type=jobpost&p=16146&preview=true), has specified for candidates to have attended at least one beach soccer refresher course organized by the NFF, be conversant with, and abreast of, the ever-changing rules and dynamics of the game and possess at least CAF C Coaching License.

“A candidate must also have been involved in beach soccer activities in the last three years to be considered while playing experience locally and internationally could prove to be an added advantage.

“Applications will close at midnight of Friday, 12th July 2024, with a successful candidate to be named in a matter of days, as the Supersand Eagles get set for a two-leg Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against their counterparts from Mauritania.” The release read.

The winner of the two-legged clash will qualify for the 2024 BSAFCON in Egypt.

The two-time African Champions hope to stage a return to the beach soccer international cadre for the first time since 2019 as the Nigeria Beach Soccer League played a crucial role in ensuring the return of the beach soccer national team after starting the league in 2021.
