Nigeria International Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene has posted a heartfelt farewell message to Eskilstuna United after five seasons with the Swedish topflight outfit ahead of her transfer to another European side on Monday.
The Nigerian registered five goals and two assists in 25 Damallsvenskan league matches last year as the club prepared to resume the new season in the second division following team’s relegation on January 29.
The 29-year-old made 141 appearances across all competitions for the club since joining in 2018 and she has made this announcement on her Twitter page where she penned a gratitude message to her teammates and fans.
“An amazing 7 seasons in Sweden @obosdamallsvenskan, Thank you @eskilstunaunited for everything and to @tuna12eskilstuna it wouldn’t have been more fun without you all. Thank you so much,” the tweet reads.
One of the most delightful midfielders in women’s football globally with visionary passes, Okobi joined the club for the 2017/18 season from another Swedish club Vittsjo.

Okobi has been one of Nigeria’s most featured players since progressing from the youth teams and she made her debut for the Super Falcons in 2010 and has become one of the veterans in midfield for over a decade.
Ngozi played the 2008 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, 2010 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with the Falconets.
At the senior level, she has been a key player for the Super Falcons and part of the team that won the 2010, 2014, 2016, and 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Okobi was part of the Super Falcons team that finished fourth at the 2022 WAFCON and is expected to return for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next year.
