Nigeria 9-0 Niger Republic: Flamingos thrash junior Menas in WAFU-B Girls Cup opener

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team thrashed their counterparts from Niger Republic 9-0 in their opening Group B encounter of the maiden West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) Girls Cup at the center Prampram, Ghana, on Thursday.

Four goals from Shakirat Moshood helped Bankole Olowookere’s side to a comprehensive victory over their neighbors.

Aisha Animashaun opened the goal spree in the fifth minute from a cross by Mary Mamudu.

Moshood doubled the lead for Nigeria in the 17th minute with a left-footed strike from outside the box.

She scored her second goal of the game in the 23rd minute to increase the lead to three

Moshood scored two goals in the second half with Peace Effiong to seal the big win.

Nigeria will wrap up its group campaign against Cote d’Ivoire on December 16, 2024.

Before that, Cote D’Ivoire and Niger Republic will trade tackles two days earlier.
