“Nigeria are under pressure” — Eric Nshimiyimana Confident Ahead of Nigeria clash

Rwanda’s assistant coach, Eric Nshimiyimana, has downplayed any pressure on his team as they prepare for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

Despite the Super Eagles’ urgent need to revive their faltering World Cup campaign, Nshimiyimana remains unfazed, highlighting that Rwanda is in a strong position within Group C.

The Amavubi, who have managed to maintain an unbeaten home record against Nigeria, are determined to extend their dominance on home soil.

Rwanda’s confidence is further bolstered by their recent 2-1 victory over Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, and the support of their home fans provides an added advantage.

Ahead of the crucial match, Nshimiyimana confidently declared, “We’re not under any pressure because we already have our seven points, so Nigeria are the ones under pressure. They need these points, but they won’t get it.”

Nigeria, after a series of draws with Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, followed by a loss to Benin Republic, finds themselves in a precarious position in Group C, with their World Cup hopes hanging by a thread.
