Nigeria beat Japan To lift 2022 Bayern Youth Cup in Munich

Team Nigeria have been crowned champions of the 2022 edition of the FC Bayern Munich Youth Global Cup.
In a thrilling game played at the Olympia Stadium in Munchen, Germany, the Nigerians beat Japan 3-1 on Saturday.
The team beat Japan for the second time after beating them 1-0 in the group stages of the eight-nation tournament. Nigeria won two games in group B and drew their last game 2-2 with Mexico after spanking Singapore 3-0 in the first group game.
The Nigerians finished as group winners and continued in their scintillating form in the semifinals, brushing aside South American side, Argentina, 4-0.
Having advanced, they were rewarded with a dream final date with Japan, harbouring revenge on their mind following the second group game loss to Nigeria. The Japanese progressed from the semis after beating USA.
The players were selected from a national tournament for academies which was held in Anambra with support from Aspire and VOE Foundation.
The FC Bayern Youth Cup is the world’s biggest and oldest international youth football tournament (series) carried out by a football club.
