By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Nigeria forward, Edna Imade scored two goals for second-tier Spanish Primera Federacion Women’s side, Cacereno as her team pipped Rayo Vallecano 3-2 on Sunday.
Jenna Holtz had given hosts Cacereno a fourth-minute lead before two goals in the space of nine minutes of the first half completed the visitors comeback at halftime.
Bruna Tavares in the 16th minute equalised for the visitors from the penalty spot before Ghananian forward, Sherifatu Sumila put Rayo ahead for the first time in the 25th minute.
After the interval, Imade equalised for the host in the 65th minute before two Rayo Vallecano players were sent off.
The duo of Iris Ponciano del Rio and Monica Braojos were sent off after their second bookable offense and Imade converted an 89th-minute penalty to win the game for Cacereno.
She has scored seven goals this season in the second-tier Spanish Primera Federacion Women league, a goal behind top goal scorer, Adriana Martin of Espanyol.
Cacereno occupy the third position on the log with 28 points from 14 games, the same points as second-placed Deportivo la Coruna and a point short of leader, Eibar.
Imade and her teammates will next face DUX Logrono on January 15, 2023, in a bid to gain promotion to top-flight Liga F.
The league champions will automatically gain promotion to Liga F and the second to fifth placed teams will settle for the Playoffs.
