Nigeria-eligible Vicky Lopez gets Spain’s senior team call-up for UEFA Nations League

Nigeria-eligible midfielder, Vicky Lopez has been called up to the Spanish senior women’s national team for their next set of games.
The 17-year-old has been invited to Spain’s UEFA Women’s Nations League (UWNL) finals matches this month.
After playing for Spain at U-17 level and showing interest in playing for the country of her mother, this invitation means she has the chance to represent her father’s country ahead of Nigeria.
Lopez was born in Madrid, Spain to a Spanish father and a Nigerian mother.
She is eligible to play for Nigeria’s senior women’s national team and has shown interest.
With Nigeria’s invitation not forthcoming, Spain has decided to invite the teenager.
Meanwhile, Barcelona midfielder, Alexia Putellas was also included the Spanish team.
She made the roster despite not playing for Barcelona since her injury
Alba Redondo also returned to the team for the first time since the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
