Nigeria football reform: ‘We are on the same page with NFF’ – PFAN Chairman, Jallah
By: Monsurah Olatunji
The Chairman, Task Force Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), Harrison Jallah, has said they are in consonance with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as far as Nigeria Football reforms is concerned.
The Players Union has been on a running battle with the Nigerian football leadership, having taken them to court in 2021, halting Congress meeting before an Appeal Court order paved way for the NFF election which saw Ibrahim Gusau elected as the new president on September.
Speaking to journalists at Sunday Dankaro NFF House in Abuja, Jallah offers positive remarks, assuring that the long awaited reform in Nigerian football will come to fruition.
“It was a fruitful meeting that we held. The president is committed to the reforms that we are asking for. He didn’t make much difficulty in terms of how we exchanged the ideas that we set,” he told media.
“He (Gusau) is committed to the reforms we are asking for and he really simplified everything. It is just the modalities to get it done that we are working towards.
“And His Excellency, the deputy governor of Edo State, has been saddled with the responsibility. He is playing a dual role, he is a member of the Task Force as an ex-player and he is also a friend to the house (NFF).
“He has been saddled with the responsibility to work out the modalities. I’m sure and we have agreed that before the end of January, we’ll see the end of all these and have a road map.
“The modalities have not set up though but as I said the deputy governor has been saddled with that responsibility. Buy I’m sure in the next one week or so, the committee will be set up. It is that committee that we draw the road map.”
According to him, the NFF President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has assured the committee that he will see to the reforms and ensures that it’s set up very soon.
“But like I said, we are thinking towards the same direction because he (Gusau) even said that the reforms we are asking for should even be broader than what we are asking for because those reforms are overdue.
“We are waiting for the day to come out with the committees. The committees will always come out with the time frame. It was a very fruitful discussion,” Jallah concluded.
