Nigeria miss Victor Osimhen against Lesotho, Zimbabwe – Alloy Agu
By Saheed Afolabi
Former Nigeria international, Alloy Agu believes the absence of forward Victor Osimhen was a major factor in the national team poor performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles failed to fly high without their talismanic forward as they could only get two points from two matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe respectively.
And Agu feels Osimhen would have made a major difference if he had played he would have changed the results or factors of the games positively.
“Every player have got its own attributes and contributions towards a game and you can’t take that away from Osimhen,” Agu told Complete Sports.
“Osimhen is an hardworking player and there is a difference he brings to the team and it’s always there for everybody to see.
“Notwithstanding, every other player have something to contribute and that is what we call a team game.
“But then, Osimhen is always a plus when you have him in the team and I think we really missed him against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.”
The Super Eagles recently launched their slogan for the 2024 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) ‘Lets Do It Again’ as they seek a fourth continental trophy at Cote D’Ivoire.
