The management of Nigeria National League, NNL has announced modules for clubs to gain promotion and relegation in the ongoing 2023 season.
In a statement released to clubs on Tuesday , the NNL stated that the new development became imperative to prepare clubs as the season is heading to its climax.
Both Northern and Southern conferences of the league were split to sub groups where A1, A2, A3 and A4 were used for the Northern conference and B1, B2, B3, B4 were for the Southern Conference.
The rules guiding the league also provided that four teams will be promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League, as the same number will taken from them.
12 teams shall be relegated from NNL at the end of the season while the league will receive eight from the Nation-Wide League One, NLO.
The promotion schedule will see the best teams (Teams with the highest number of points and goals) in each of the eight sub-groups at the end of the season qualify for the NNL Super Eight (8) Promotional Playoffs at a venue to be considered by the league body. The best four teams from the playoffs will then gain promotion to the NPFL.
For the relegation playoffs, the NNL stated that the last placed teams in each groups will automatically relegate to the NLO while the second to the last (bottom) teams in the eight groups shall go for relegation play-offs to determine the four teams to complete the 12 teams to be relegated from NNL to the third tier league in Nigeria.
The NNL, however promised to provide suitable venues for all the playoffs to give all the clubs level playing ground.
