Nigeria Professional Football League will still commence this year 2022 – IMC boss

The Chairman, Interim Management Committee ( IMC) Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye reiterated that the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) will commence before the end of this year.
The 2021/2022 season of the league ended in June 2022 when Rivers United emerged as the champions and had since faced reorganisation with IMC replacing the League Management Company ( LMC).
On on Monday night in Abuja, the IMC boss while speaking with the press said every arrangement has been concluded and the league will start soon.
“We had a meeting today and the purpose of the meeting is to discuss the critical issues affecting the Nigeria league.
We have communicated to the NFF on the date we want to start the league though we might not be able to give you the date right now.
“If we get to go ahead, we have agreed with the clubs on the league format, commentators and other logistics.
“The league will commence this year but the date is yet to be agreed upon. We are on the same page with the club owners and there is no problem.
“It’s only that we want our league to be on television and to have good facilities that are television-friendly”, he concluded.
