Nigeria will overcome Benin to qualify for 2026 FIFA World Cup – Ike Shorunmu

Nigeria legendary goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu believes Benin Republic can’t stop the Super Eagles from qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Squirrels are drawn with Nigeria in the same FIFA World Cup qualifying group alongside South Africa, Benin, Rwanda, Zimbabwe and Lesotho in Group C.
The former Super Eagles goalkeeper coach discarded any threat by Gernot Rohr’s side as he feels the array of stars in the Nigerian team will get the job done easily.
“I really don’t think Rohr’s Benin will pose a big threat to the Super Eagles even though I know that football is not mathematics,” Shorunmu told Complete Sports.
“But I want to believe Peseiro will definitely get the edge over Rohr because of the array of talents at his disposal. For sure, we know what Benin can do even before the arrival of Rohr to the team.
“Notwithstanding, I think the Super Eagles will overcome Benin and qualify as the top team in the group.”
Nigeria failed to qualify to the last FIFA World Cup in Qatar at the expense of Ghana who qualified for the mundial through the away goal rule.
