Nigerian stars set for UWCL Third Round Qualifiers

Nigerian players are set to continue their push for a place in the 2025/26 UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage following the conclusion of the third-round qualifying draws.

In the Champions Path, Joy Omewa and her Danish club, Fortuna Hjørring, will face Austrian champions SKN St. Pölten for a spot in the league phase.

In the League Path, Rinsola Babajide and Shukurat Oladipo will line up against Portuguese giants Sporting Clube de Portugal.

Winners of this round will advance to the group stage, while the defeated sides will drop into the inaugural season of the UEFA Women’s Europa League at the second qualifying round.

Meanwhile, Rasheedat Ajibade and Jennifer Echegini (both PSG) alongside Christy Ucheibe (SL Benfica) have already secured direct entry into the group stage with their respective clubs.

They joined holders, Arsenal FC (England), Chelsea FC (England), Lyon (France), FC Barcelona (Spain), FC Bayern Munich (Germany), and VfL Wolfsburg (Germany) in the group stage.
