By Wale Mustapha
The management of Nigeria National League, NNL side, Wikki Tourists have been dissolved by the Bauchi State Government.
The management led by Mallam Balarabe Douglas led the club to disappointing season in the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL season where the club relegated to the second tier division.
The letter conveying the dissolution of the Douglas led management was signed by Danjuma Garba on behalf of the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in the state.
“I am directed to refer to the Government’s pronouncement of Thursday, 25th May, 2023 on the disengagement of Political Office Holders in the State,” the statement read in part.
“And to inform you that the disengagement order also affected your office as Chairman, Wikki Tourists Football Club and other members of the Management Team of the Club, hence, you cease to be the Management team of the Club.”
“Consequently, I am further directed to request you to hand-over the affairs of Wikki Tourists Football Club to the Ministry of Youth and Sports with immediate effect, pending the reconstitution of the Management of the Club”, Danjuma Garba concluded in the said letter.
Wikki Tourists are expected to compete for one of the places to the NPFL in the coming season of National League.
