NNL Super 8: Katsina United’s Usman Abdallah optimistic of picking NPFL ticket

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Head coach of Katsina United Usman Abdallah is confident that his team can pick one of four tickets from the second-tier Nigeria National League (NNL) to the country’s top-flight.
The Kastina-based club will compete with seven other teams for four slots at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State, from Sunday and the former Enyimba gaffer says the players are ready to face the challenge ad pick one of the two tickets from the Northern zone.
“We are ready. Today is a sort of preparation for the team because we came in last night. The boys are having the feel of the natural grass as we will be playing on it,” Abdallah told NNLTV.
“Kano Pillars and DMD are in the Northern Conference and fortunately I didn’t play against DMD as they were in the other group. This is the first time I will be playing against the team and don’t know how they will set up. Kano Pillars are also not in our group during the season but I had been able to watch some of their games and have an idea of the team.
“Katsina United and Kano Pillars have always been seen as NPFL teams irrespective of the competition. I honk the boys are psyched enough for the Super 8. They are ready and we are hopeful to pick a ticket.”
The draw for the 2023 NNL Super 8 will take place at the Conference Hall of Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, by 6:00 pm on Saturday, July 1.
EFCC FC, Katsina United, FC ONE Rocket, Sporting Lagos, Kano Pillars, DMD, Abeokuta Stormers, and Heartland FC will go into the draw.
