The Nigeria National League (NNL) has officially announced that the highly anticipated Super 8 tournament will be held in Asaba, Delta State, from July 5 to 12, 2025. The event will take place at the prestigious Stephen Keshi Stadium, and is expected to mark the thrilling climax of the 2024/2025 NNL season.

The Super 8 will feature the top eight teams from the just-concluded regular season:

  • Warri Wolves
  • Osun United
  • Crown FC
  • Kun Khalifa FC of Owerri
  • Wikki Tourists of Bauchi
  • Yobe Desert Stars
  • Doma FC of Gombe
  • Barau FC of Kano

In a statement released by the league’s management, the NNL expressed its appreciation to Delta State Governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for approving the state’s hosting of the tournament. The league described the Governor as a “sports-loving leader” whose support will further cement Delta’s reputation as a hub for sports development in Nigeria.

“We are happy to announce that the sports-loving Governor of Delta State, Hon. Oborevwori, has given approval for the hosting of the NNL Super 8 in Asaba, and we’re grateful for this kind gesture,” the statement read. “This move will ensure a successful end to the 2024/2025 season and the emergence of the four best teams to gain promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).”

NNL Chairman, Mr. George Aluo, also assured fans of a thrilling tournament, promising a display of top-notch football from all participating teams.

“There will be no dull moment throughout the tournament,” Aluo said. “All eight teams have the quality to compete for promotion, and we are putting all necessary logistics in place, in partnership with the host state, to deliver a world-class competition.”

The NNL Super 8 serves as the final phase of the league season, determining both the overall champion and the four teams that will secure promotion to Nigeria’s top-tier football league.
