“No exit clause in Osimhen’s contract” — Galatasaray president Özbek clarifies

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has dismissed reports suggesting that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has an exit clause in his contract with the Turkish champions.

Özbek made the clarification while addressing speculation over the forward’s future, emphasizing that Osimhen remains fully committed to Galatasaray as a central figure in the club’s long-term plans.

“There’s no exit clause in Osimhen’s contract,” Özbek stated.

“He’s an extremely successful player who will serve Galatasaray for many years. There was talk of a high amount when we signed him, but today the general view in football circles is that the fee was actually low compared to his value.

“Every player contract we make is completely transparent and complies with both TFF and UEFA regulations. Our pursuit of success, befitting Galatasaray’s tradition, will continue unchanged,” he added.

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray permanently from Napoli after a highly successful loan spell, became the most expensive signing in Turkish football history — a move that signaled the club’s ambition to strengthen its domestic and European standing.

Sporting director Abdullah Kavukçu also weighed in, describing Osimhen as one of the world’s most coveted forwards.

“There are players worth €140 million in world football, but Osimhen is the most talked about,” Kavukçu said. “Napoli made a much higher offer than us, but we fought to the end and got him. Galatasaray is a huge club, and we’re very happy he’s with us.”

President Özbek’s remarks effectively end speculation over any potential early departure or buyout clause, reaffirming Galatasaray’s intention to build their future around the prolific Super Eagles striker.
