No Scholes, Ferdinand as Keane names his greatest Man United XI

Roy Keane has named his greatest Manchester United XI from the Premier League era.

Notably, Keane who captained United during the most successful period in the club’s history winning seven EPL titles and the Champions League has left out his former teammates Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand

In his 4-4-2 formation, Keane has picked Peter Schmeichel ahead of Edwin van der Sar and David de Gea. Gary Neville and Dennis Irwin have been selected as the fullbacks while Jaap Stam and Gary Pallister are the centrebacks.

Explaining his decision to pick Pallister over the likes of Ferdinand, Steve Bruce, and Nemanja Vidic, Keane said on Sky Sports: “The other one was an issue but I have gone with Gary Pallister. Brucey was a brilliant player but you have to leave someone out.

In the midfielder, Keane has selected Paul Ince and Robson at the middle of the park while David Beckham and Ryan Giggs are on the wings.

Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo lead the attack.
