Nottingham Forest’s Steve Cooper gives update on Taiwo Awoniyi

Nottingham Forest boss, Steve Cooper, has disclosed that Nigerian striker, Taiwo Awoniyi is making positive progress towards a speedy recovery from injury.

Awoniyi injured his foot when he inspired Forest’s Premier League 1-0 home win over Southampton in January and has been out of action for the Tricky Trees.

The Nigerian striker joined the club last summer but has missed Nottingham’s last 10 games.

“Taiwo is making good progress. He is out on the grass, and he’s running,” the Welsh manager told Nottinghamlive.

“He’s not with the team yet and not kicking any balls, but he has made progress in not just straight-line running.

“It’s a positive step for him, but he’s still weeks away from being close.”
