Notts County Manager Kevin Nolan Pleased with Shola Ameobi’s Swift Recovery from Injury

Notts County manager Kevin Nolan expressed his satisfaction with the swift return of former Newcastle United star Shola Ameobi, who has overcome a hamstring injury that sidelined him for a couple of weeks. Ameobi had been absent from the field since sustaining the injury during the win over Morecambe.

Nolan, cautious about the veteran’s fitness, emphasized that Ameobi’s return provides valuable options for the team. In an interview with the Nottingham Post, Nolan stated, “Shola’s return is great as it gives us more options. We are delighted how quick he has come back, and it just shows that the work he did in pre-season enables him to be strong and ready to go against Mansfield.”

Despite having a fully-fit squad, Nolan asserted that he would not rush Ameobi back into action to prevent any recurrence of the injury. The meticulous approach highlights the manager’s commitment to the long-term well-being of the team’s key players.

In other football news, MFM FC striker Stephen Odey has finalized his move to Swiss side FC Zurich after the release of his International Transfer Certificate. Odey, who signed a four-year deal with the club, joins the ranks of Nigerian players who have featured for FC Zurich, following in the footsteps of Ike Shorunmu and the late Rashidi Yekini.

Odey’s prolific record of 18 goals in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) last season and his contributions to the Home Eagles team underscore his potential impact in the Swiss League. FC Zurich currently leads the league table with 12 points after six rounds of matches, holding a one-point advantage over closest rivals Young Boys and Basel.
