By Wale Mustapha
Abdu Maikaba, Technical Adviser of Rangers Int’l has warned his players to be at their very best as they welcome Wikki Tourists to Awka for their Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL Matchday 16 clash on Sunday.
The Group B encounter will determine how both teams will end their unimpressive abridged league season on the log which has made Maikaba to sound it loud to his wards that there will be no room for any error for the Flying Antelopes who desire to claim the match points.
“Indeed we are in a not-too-good position and don’t need to make any marginal errors in our remaining matches, especially in our game against Wikki Tourists,” Maikaba told the club media.
“They are emboldened by the pronouncement of the O & D that reversed the IMC’s earlier decision going into this weekend’s fixture hence, we have to be on top of our game to get the maximum points and steady our resolve to push up the log.”
Rangers and Wikki have met seven times with the former emerged winners in two games against three wins for the Bauchi side while two have ended in a draw with the visitors enjoying a slight advantage on goals scored having netted seven goals while the host, Rangers have found the back of the net six times over this period.
With four points separating both sides on the log, though, Wikki have a game in hand, Rangers will be relying on the speed and trickery of Chidiebere Nwobodo, who is back to the match day squad after missing out in the last two, to deliver the crosses for Godwin Obaje and his attacking partners to finish
The host’s backline, expectedly to be anchored by former Wikki Tourists defender, Ebuka Anthony, will have to be alert to rebuff the threats from Idris Muhammed Guda, Mohammed Yusuf and Manu Garba for the visitors.
