NPFL: Abia Warriors engage ex-Nigeria coach Ike Shorunmu as goalkeeper trainer

Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu has teamed up with Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL side, Abia Warriors as their Goalkeepers’ coach ahead of new season.
Shorunmu who was one of the few goalkeepers to have played for Super Eagles as home based keeper is expected to prepare the goal tenders ahead of new season.
Chairman of the Umuahia based club, John Obuh unveiled Shorunmu at the club’s secretariat on Monday at the brief ceremony that was attended by other officials and players of the team.
Obuh noted that Shorunmu was contracted for the position because of his vast experience and antecedents hoping that his addition will be a big influence, not only for the goalkeepers but for the club.
An elated Shorunmu said he settled for Abia Warriors based on personal conviction and expressed confidence that the team will achieve greater success this season.
“It is a team that is competing in the Nigerian premiership and they needed my service,” the former international told the club media.
With what’ve seen and my conversation with the chairman, I am so happy to be here and eager to do my best for the team to finish in a good position0. My ambition is to do well on the pitch as I believe in practical on the pitch.”
