NPFL: Akwa United receives kit contribution from Foundation

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The Hightower Foundation, a charitable organization based in the United States, has generously donated football kits to Akwa United Football Club as part of its commitment to support the team.

Dr. Marshall Umoren, the Chief Executive Officer of the Hightower Foundation, along with his colleagues Mr. Theophilus Etteh and the national coordinator Obong Udeme Uyoata, presented the donation at the club’s headquarters in Uyo on Monday.

Dr. Umoren stated that this contribution reflects the Foundation’s encouragement and support for the premier football club in Akwa Ibom, emphasizing the organization’s dedication to giving back to the community.

“Our visit to Akwa United Football Club today is significant, as we at Hightower Foundation have long sought an opportunity to connect with this remarkable football club. Although we attempted to do so last year without success, we are thrilled to finally provide our modest support to our state team today.

“Hightower Foundation operates as a charity in the United States, yet we remain mindful of our roots. It is our mission to support and uplift individuals and organizations like Akwa United, a team that has brought pride and recognition to our beloved state in recent years.

“While football may not be the most popular sport in the US, we have witnessed some impressive matches and have closely followed the growth of football in Nigeria. From this perspective, we understand that a football team requires various forms of support to perform at its best, which is why we are here to assist our cherished team, Akwa United.

“Our efforts today are just the beginning, as we are committed to providing ongoing support that enhances the well-being and performance of our community. We firmly believe that our small contribution will significantly aid the team in achieving its goals this season and in the future.”

Included in the donation from the Hightower Foundation are customized balls, set og bibs, and goalkeeper hand gloves.
