Obong Isong Isang was the Chairman of Akwa United FC from 2007-2015. He was a one-time member of the Akwa Ibom State Home of Meeting representing Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency. As a footballer, he performed for Kofine FC, Jetimo, Flash Flamingos and Calabar Rovers FC.
In a response to the unhappy information, chairman of Akwa United Elder Paul Bassey described the deceased as a passionate and good soccer administrator with fantastic expertise which made him profitable as a participant, politician, administrator and an entrepreneur.
“It is a horrible information for me as a private buddy to Isong Isang and to all of us at Akwa United. Demise is a pure and inevitable path for all mortals however taking him away at a time like this saddens us all.
“Isong was the chairman of Akwa Ibom State Soccer Stakeholders Discussion board and his demise is a monumental loss to your complete soccer fraternity within the state and past. His wealth of expertise and optimistic contributions will certainly be missed as we sit up for repositioning soccer in Akwa Ibom State.
“On behalf of Akwa United Soccer Membership we pray God Almighty to grant his household the energy to bear the irreparable loss and grant his soul everlasting repose, Amen”.
