NPFL announces increase in prize money for 2024/2025 season

The Nigeria Premier League (NPFL) has announced an increase in the prize money for the upcoming 2024/2025 season, with the league champion set to receive N200 million.

This increase was revealed by NPFL Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, during the league Annual General Meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.

Last season, Rangers International which won the league title smiled home with 150 million Naira.

The new prize money marked an increase of 50 million which will be awarded to the winner of the league next season.

Next season is scheduled to kick off on August 31, 2024.

Holders Rangers International will start their title defence against newly promoted El-Kanemi Warriors in Enugu.

The season will be a straight season with 38 games to be played by each team in the league.

There was news going the rounds that next season would be an abridged league format but the 20 teams settled for another straight-season format.
